There might be various unwanted devices connected to your WiFi connection. And thus, making it slower.
And for that, you might want to know how you can block them.
Well, in this guide we are going to walk you through step by step on how you can check the devices connected to your WiFi and how you can block the unwanted ones.
Check the devices connected to your WiFi
Firstly you open up your favorite browser and then type in the IP address of your router. These are often mentioned in the packaging itself.
And then you press enter and you will be taken to another web page. Type in the username and password and then login.
Once you login, click on this menu which says “Status”. And then click on “Wireless clients”.
After that, you will see the list of all the devices connected to your WiFi.
And you will see their MAC addresses listed there as well.’
Block unwanted users (Step-By-Step)
So to block the unwanted users in your WiFi, firstly head over to the “Advanced” menu. Then, you will see this option which says “MAC Filtering” and you click on that.
Then you click on this checkbox which says “Enable Access Control Mode”. And then click on this option which says “Add” and after that, you will add the MAC addresses of the devices you want to use your WiFi only.
You can find the MAC address of those devices by following the steps we mentioned previously.
After you add the MAC addresses of the devices which you want to use your router only, all the other devices which are using your WiFi are going to be blocked.
Through this it makes your WiFi more protected from unwanted users which can slow Cdown your internet speed.
Also, after you add the MAC addresses, do remember to reboot your WiFi router.
The number of users connected to your WiFi plays a significant role in your WiFi speed. And I hope that through this guide you could now block any unwanted users in your WiFi.
