LED or light emitting diodes are the miraculous addition in the electronics world. It has replaced the traditional lights as they have a lot of shortcomings. LEDs are widely used in almost every electrical and electronic item as they are the real power savers and pose less harm in comparison to the incandescent lights. LEDs are the tiny light bulbs that can be easily fit in an electrical circuit to light it up. Thus, apart from being used as a light source, it has been used for making television and various other electronic items. These are way different from the incandescent bulbs as they do not contain any filament and they do not get hot. Keep on reading to know more about LEDs.
Functioning Of LED
The functioning of LED is way different from the incandescent lights. These are illuminated by the movement of electrons inside a semiconductor material. Thus, the lifespan of an LED is by thousands of hours more than the traditional lights. The invention of thinner televisions became possible due to the LED lights. In LEDs, the electrical energy that flows through it gets directly converted to light energy. These are thus considered as one of the most commonly used semiconductor diodes. LEDs are also used for making remote controls in which the invisible infrared light emitting diodes are used.
Advantages Of LED
There are diverse advantages attached to LED lights. These are useful in creating different types of items that function for a longer term. Some of the advantages are:
Efficiency: LEDs are capable of emitting more lumens per watt in comparison to the incandescent light bulbs. The efficiency of the LED lights never gets affected due to the shape and size of the fixture.
Size: LEDs are extremely small in size (less than 2 mm2) and thus, it can be easily attached to a printed circuit board.
On/Off Time: The LED lights light up really quick in comparison to the traditional lights. LED takes microseconds to light up and thus, it is widely preferred.
Cool & Harmless Light: In comparison to the incandescent lights, the LEDs radiate cool light and very little heat in the form of IR that could never damage any sensitive object or fabric.
Life Span: LEDs has a much longer lifespan in comparison to the other light sources. As per an estimate of a report, an LED has 35,000 to 50,000 hours of useful life. The fluorescent bulbs have a lifespan of about 10,000 to 15,000 hours and incandescent light bulbs have 1,000 to 2,000 hours. This helps in reducing the maintenance costs and saves a lot of energy.
Shock Resistance: LED lights are shock resistant as they are solid-state components. Moreover, these lights are difficult to damage using an external shock.
There are different types of LEDs available in the market. If one wants to purchase Indoor Led Video Wall then searching online is the best method. There is a wide variety available online from which one can select the type best suited for the particular application.
